As Buddhism embarked on the path of altruism, it became fragmented. Gradually, according to the beliefs of practicing Buddhists- heaven, hell, gods, goddesses, ghosts, spirits, souls, demons, and fairies emerged. Buddhist society became engulfed in various superstitions, influencing ordinary people. ‘Bouddhatantra’ primarily reveals the practices and experiences of these ascetics and gurus. Practices such as death rituals, necromancy, and control are intertwined with the teachings of tantric Buddhist sects. Somabrata Sarkar has also written about the tales of the miracles of Buddhist monks, ascetics, female tantriks, yoginis, and Tibetan ascetics in this book.
